After nearly 18 months, Australian Certified Website Received our Final Assessment of our Certification Trademark (Gold Logo) on the 13th August 2010.

This means that The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (the ACCC), in accordance with the requirements of the Trade Marks Act 1995, has completed its Final Assessment of the Certification Trade Mark (CTM) application 1315333.

The ACCC's Final Assessment is that it is satisfied that:

(a) the approved certifier demonstrates the attributes necessary to competently certify the goods and services in respect of which the CTM is to be registered;

(b) the rules governing the use of the CTM would not be to the detriment of the public; and

(c) the rules governing the use of the CTM are satisfactory having regard to the principles relating to restrictive trade practices set out in Part IV of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (the Act); the principles relating to unconscionable conduct set out in Part IV A of the Act; and the principles relating to unfair practices, product safety and product information set out in Part V of the Act.

How did we certify websites before this date?

We were advised by IP Australia and The ACCC that we could issue certification before the final assessment was completed.

What does this mean for our certification?

This means that our Gold Logo is listed with the ACCC and IP Australia as an approved certification trademark. It also means that ACW are competent to assess websites according to our Terms and Conditions (rules for websites) and that our Terms and Conditions comply with the Trade Practices Act 1974.

What does this mean for consumers?

Consumers can trust our logo and feel confident that certified websites are Australian owned and operated.
